Fixture: Oswestry Mixed 2 v Bridgnorth 2
Result: Won 4-0
Junior players Matt Cambell and Millie Parsons Hann ably stood in for the unavailable Gary Edwards and Speth Cumpston for the away trip to Bridgnorth, to play along with the regular pairing of Brett Hollywell and Clare Parsons Hann.
Bridgnorth were only able to field one pairing but they were strong, and playing on theIr familiar carpet surfaced courts they put up quite a challenge.
Brett and Clare took time to adjust to the unfamiliar surface and lost the opening set but came back strongly to win the second set 7-5 then held their nerve to win the deciding third set tie-break by the tightest of margins 10-8 with Clare winning the match point from an instinctive reactional volley placed right in the corner of their oponents court to wrap up the rubber and secure the point.
The youngsters' rubber followed an identical path, losing the first set, then winning the second set 7-5 before securing their victory with a 10-5 scoreline in the deciding 3rd set tie-break.
With the other 2 points forfeited by Bridgnorth from failing to have a second pairing, the Oswestry team achieved a full house 4 points.
